16 Feburary 2012
The weather beat us again last week, so our next game will be the re-arranged Cup Quarter Final against Bredhurst on Sunday the 26th. No need to say how close this game will be, so we need to rise to the occasion if we are to make it to the semis for a second season in a row.
The updated Cup Draw is online. Press here to see it.
Training will resume as usual at Hillyfields on Saturday, 9am start.
Notices
Next Season Starts Here (yes already)
The FA are planning to make changes to the structure of Boys football next season. This will mean that we will be playing 9 aside instead of 11 aside. Nothing is definite yet, and to be honest time is short so my money is on them allowing us to play 11 aside after all.
But I need to plan for both eventualities.
We currently have 16 players, which is far too many for 9 aside so I'd propose having two teams. To do that I will need to recruit extra players (six more ideally).
Before that I need to confirm that all the boys want to continue playing next season. I know some of the boys have been unhappy recently so need to know where we stand going forward. So can you let me know whether you want to play next season.
I appreciate that its very early to be asking, but if I'm to have any chance of recruiting more players I need to start soon.
From what I have seen already we have the nuclus of a great 11 aside team, so fingers crossed that we can continue.
Subs
I am taking over the collection of subs from Cheryl. I have the list of money owed (which includes me).
Can you let me have your remaining subs as soon as possible, as I need to pay the second half of our annual fees to the club as soon as possible.
If you are unsure how much you have to pay, let me know and I'll prepare a statement.
Also I appreciate times are hard so if you are unable to pay right now, tell me in confidence, and we will work something out. But please don't ignore this message.
End of season awards
As the end of the season approaches its time to think about your choices for the club awards.
As usual there are four awards (two winners for each).
- Managers Award - Chosen by Neil, Keith, Rob and Me
- Players Award - Chosen by the boys. Secret ballot 1st, 2nd, 3rd
- Most Improved - Chosen by the parents. Secret ballot 1st, 2nd, 3rd
- Sportsman - Chosen by Chris and Me
So get your thinking caps on. Ballot papers will be distributed next month.
